Two Weeks Remain Before the Voters Call the Shots
and put a new City Council in place.

The hopefuls and wanna-bees line up to get a chance to be a municipal
representative of Oxnard on their government.

Who will pass the test -- what faces the candidates as they run....

With just two weeks remaining, the election ahead looks to be fraught with potholes in the road for all the candidates.

Tim Flynn is accused at public forum of taking down signs --- Bill Winter is reminded of his sign mis-adventure in 2002 by the Ventura County Star in it's candidate highlight profile which Winter needs for spreading the word that "Not Just Holden" is running for Mayor.

At the Candidate Forum Tim Flynn denied putting his sign in front of any other candidates' signs.

Winter said,
"You're in front of mine."

Winter's sign was affixed to the fence first.

This picture was taken the morning of the next day at the Doris Street Corner of the G Street Alley - Dr. Pinkard at least kept her sign below the last visible corner of Winter's sign.......

In the Supervisor's race Flynn and Lopez battle it out in a titanic fight that will leave one of the 70-plus year old political giants going gracefully into private life.

Saul Medina reels from constant barrage of Anti-Medina Democratic drivel spewed out on a regular basis by the Ventura County Star, when in contrary fashion to what the Star prints --  the Star Editorial Board endorsed Medina again for it's choice for Council. -- Go Figure !!!!

Zaragoza again has to fight another FLYNN for a seat on representative government - reminiscent of Zaragoza's March 2004 fight for the Supervisor's seat against Papa-Daddy John Flynn, he now must run against Papa's offspring Tim Flynn for one of two of the valued Council Chairs.

Dr. Irene Pinkard, when queried at a recent forum about her obvious proximity to Bedford Pinkard by a voter who did not like Bedford and felt Irene was more of the same.....Dr. Pinkard replied:  "I am not Bedford Pinkard, I don't look like him, in case you haven't noticed, I'm a woman."

Tim Flynn is propagating signs all over town and is most likely using his Dad's play book for everything from "how to raise funds', to 'how to win votes" - So watch Tim as he has some ideas that ring loud in the hearts and minds of voters.

Dolly Villa fought valiantly to be on the November ballot and then disappeared.  She re-appeared in a Ventura County Star interview -- but has been absent from all Forums and Public meetings.  As for a grassroots campaign, she must be running the most stealthiest one of all the candidates.  It'll be interesting to see how many votes she actually pulls in.

Al Duff is making it Tuff on the competition with a proliferation of signs and good attendance at all debates and forums.  He is on his second try for Council and will garner some healthy numbers when the ballots are counted.

Medina too - will keep his faithful block of voters who will thrust him closer and closer to gaining a seat on the Council.

Come November 3rd, all the hub-bub and the in-fighting will come to a screeching halt.  Opponents will congratulate the winners and then come home to lick their wounds.

Oxnard is a tough town,
Tough in many ways, but most of all "Politically"..... no one gets a cut in this place, it's either
'Win - Place - or - Show' in this race to be on the Council.  There are fewer novice runners this time.
Duff ran once for Council, Medina twice, Winter ran for Council in the early 90's and for Mayor in 1998, where he beat Andres Herrera on the absentee vote count.

Of course, we have the perennials Zaragoza and Holden who want to put the Council back the way it was.  It will be the voters who say Yes to change or Yes to nostalgia.

If there is a revolving door or a grand entrance to the Council it is yet to be seen.  Just in case you do go to council chambers, to get to the dais, you pass by a swinging door with a placard "Admittance by Invitation Only".
